For the 90th Commemoration in 2002 of the Titanic's sinking, Addergoole's connection to the Titanic story gained worldwide media attention. It was shown on TV, told on the radio and reported in newspapers across Europe and America. This media attention was totally unanticipated locally, but it helped spur the Addergoole Titanic Society into action so that our locality now has an annual media presence in March - April, but many requests come too late for a comprehensive response.
Addergoole's role in RMS Titanic's centenary year, 2012, will be central to the world's media coverage, given the parish's extraordinary loss. The Society will assist journalists with further research for their articles. We will give genuine researchers access to our material and introductions to other resources.
