Teachers and the Parents' Council set up a local history competition for all children and young people in Lahardane. This was part of the European funded project "Reading Europe 97". Children, with support from their teachers, completed this project.

Some of the work submitted for this competition was then published in the school's centenary publication: "Celebrating 150 Years of Primary Education in Lahardane N.S. 1847 - 97".

A smaller booklet, synopsizing the work, was also produced entitled: "Lahardane Tales".
